Actress Salma Hayek has called off her engagement to businessman Francois-Henri Pinault. The couple announced their plans to wed in March 2007, and welcomed a daughter, Valentina Paloma Pinault, several months later. "We are sad to announce the engagement of Salma Hayek and Francois-Henri Pinault has been canceled," publicist Cari Ross said.

Thanks to a $1 million donation by Brad Pitt, Angelina Jolie and his family (Doug and Lisa Pitt and Rob and Julie Neal), children fighting cancer have a new place to be treated in his hometown of Springfield, Mo. Last night, St. John's Hospital dedicated the new facility, which is named after the actor's mother who still resides in the area. Over 200 guests attended the party, including several patients.
The center, which is affiliated with Saint Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, offers advanced medical care to children with cancer and features a new 31-bed pediatric unit with a 10-bedroom hospital-based Ronald McDonald House.
On Thursday, do-gooder Brad was with Bill Clinton in New York at the 2009 Clinton Global Initiative Annual Meeting. The Make It Right founder was there to give an update on another of his philanthropic efforts -- building energy-efficient homes in New Orleans for people displaced by Hurricane Katrina.

Tempers Flare... Still not friends?
Alec Baldwin's daughter Ireland is now being protected by 24-hour security after her foul-mouthed father exploded on her in a voice mail message on April 11 when she didn't answer the phone to talk to him, according to the New York Post.
A huge bodyguard was spotted with Ireland and her mom Kim Basinger near their Los Angeles home this weekend. An assistant to Basinger told the New York Post that they had 24-hour security "because of this thing with Alec."
Meanwhile, Baldwin was 3,000 miles away in the Hamptons on Sunday, stopping in at a local deli and staying at his gated mansion.
Baldwin, who apologized publicly and in private to his daughter, has been barred from seeing Ireland at least until a May 4 court date. His spokesman, Matthew Hiltzik, said Baldwin will obey the judge's orders and that "Alec truly cares about the best interests of his daughter," he said.
But a source close to the film and TV star told the New York Post that Ireland needs protection from her mother. "This is a desperate plea for sympathy when the only danger to the child is inside her own home," said the source, who accused Basinger of leaking the tape. "What kind of parent leaks a voicemail that causes her daughter significant embarrassment and unneeded attention?" the source said.
This could mean that Baldwin might have even less face time with his daughter in the future. And Basinger faces a multi-count contempt charge for blocking Baldwin's visitation rights and not allowing him to speak with Ireland.

Paris Hilton says she cries sometimes after reading the cruel comments about her posted on the internet site TMZ.
In an exclusive interview after finishing a meeting with her publicist Elliott Mintz, acording to sources Hilton agreed to talk to TMZ's Harvey Levin about thousands of messages TMZ users have posted, many of which are, as Hilton says, "mean and sadistic."
Levin asked Hilton about such comments as, "Paris is just an overused human condom," "Paris is like a fart in a mitten. You know it's there, you can't stand it, but you can't get rid of it," and "Would you please drop over dead or commit suicide you damn slut."
Hilton said "I'm far less promiscuous than any of my friends." As for the infamous sex tape with ex-lover Rick Solomon, Hilton said "I'm judged because of something that an ex-boyfriend did to me. I'm not a slut at all."
Paris says that many of the TMZ comments are "very hurtful" to her and that some make her cry. She says "They think I don't have any feelings."
